I got chills watching that.

Tbh, the animation was simple, but it was immensely captivating. The panning shot over a static frame, followed by a simple match cut, with a close-on of the Light Collector? That, paired with the minimalistic sound editing, eschewing sound effects for a brooding, entrancing ambience, gave the story an enticing style.

While shorts like, 'Freak of the Week' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2vzBdIejVY , certainly have more flashy tool kits, this approach, to me, is just as dramatic. I sincerely hope what I say next is taken in the most flattering sense possible: Like 'the Grinch' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppWrbYC3WwQ or the Rankin Bas cartoons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlYhCQxYlu0 , I loved the earnest simplicity exhibited in this short. It was low-budget, but it never once felt cheap, because it was so hauntingly atmospheric and expressionistic. Everything I saw felt like a deliberate choice, never a last resort.
